Hi guy’s hpe all is going good? Just an update of what’s happening I have done the route and witch is at the bottom so check it out if you want to. The place I will be stopping at is John O‘Groats, Alness, Glencoe, Kilmarnock, Carlisle, Wigan, Ludlow, Chepstow/Bristol, Exeter, Land Ends, These may change on last min till we finalise booking of the digs.

Now lately a few months back I started doing 4x15 miles a week now I am doing at least 4x40 miles a week but I need to pick up the pace witch I can easily do but its just so boring in the gym on the bike it really is mentally challenging were as when out there on a bike you can go so far out and think! now I’ve goter get home so you can get the miles in more plus its prettier being out there looking with different scenery you don’t really notice that much of the miles and your arse don’t hurt as much as it does in the gym as you are constantly on it so loads of Vaseline for me. Next week though I aim to up it at least 4x50 miles o by the end of  these 8 weeks l will be doing at least 70 miles a day witch on the bike in the gym it’s 113km but prob round it up to 115 no one likes to leave it that uneven do we?

So good news the other day I have been emailing suppliers for protein and nutrition place’s to see if they could sponsor us in getting the right gear down us so a lot turned me down and one person really made the different and that’s Jodie march company  www.jstjodie.co.uk they emailed me back and said they would be honoured to help us on this amazing journey so I was made up to receive that email so a big HUGH THANK YOU to them for helping me and will get stuck in once it arrives.

Also one last thing as we started this event I did have a main sponsor but due to uncertain circumstances they had to pull out so were still looking for a main sponsor or a group of main sponsors will be great to help out with the cycling uniform, digs, fuel, and food as we’ll be burning over 4000 calories a day. If anyone knows anyone or firms that could help out it would bring a lot of happiness and more time focusing on training. Of course with the sponsorship it being promotion of the business and we were there or there’s logo and advertise it.

Right off to get busy so will be back on here later to post more tring pictures ects and don’t forget the route below.

John O Groats to Lands End Bike ride: route chosen by John Owen and Derrick Kilshaw.

JOHN O GROATS start;
take the A99 towards Wick then take the A9 to Inverness travelling through Brora, Golspie, Loch Fleet, Dornoch and Alness.

From Inverness follow the A82 toward Fort William travelling along side Loch Ness through Fort Augustus and Loch Lochy. Leaving Fort William heading for Inverbeg, again on A82 travelling through Bridge of Orchy, Glen Coe, Ardui, Crianlarich and reaching Inverbeg.

Watch out for a really steep hill out of B&B. Heading now toward Loch Lomond passing Aldochlay, Arden and Alexandria. Staying on the A82 head toward Dumbarton, Bowling and head for the A898 crossing the Erskine bridge which is pretty spectacular. Now you want to take the A726 away from Erskine and toward Paisley not the motorway!

Take the A726, the Greenock road toward the top of Paisley taking a right onto the B7050. Passing the A761 on a crossroad as the road turns into the B775 STEEP ascent. On Glennifer Road take a left onto the B777, then a quick left onto the A763 (WHERE THE A735 MEETS THE A7366). Heading toward Kilmaurs and Stewarton; through to Lugton and onto Kilmarnock on the A735.

From Kilmarnock you need to take the A76 through Mauchline, Cumnock, New Cumnock and Kelloholm. Stay on the A76 through Sanquhar, Enterkinfoot, Carronbridge, Thornhill and Kirkpatrick, Auldgirth, Hollywood, Newbridge and finally Dumfries. From Dumfries take a short stint on the A75 until it meets a town called Colin. From here take the B724 toward Mouswald and through Clarencefield then stay on B724 toward Cummertrees. It then turns into the B721 follow on to Annan, Dornock, and Eastriggs.

The B721 then runs parallel with the A75 turning into the B7076 travel through Sarkbridge and then left onto the A6071 which runs under the M6 motorway. From here head toward Gretna on the A6071 from Gretna take the A7 toward Longtown, Sandskye, Weslington, Blackford, Harker through to Stanwix and onto Carlise where the A6 turns into the A7.

From Carlise head toward Penrith then head toward the town of Shap. From here it’s a big climb toward Kendal all the while staying on the A6.  Now head toward a town called Sizergh on the A6 (The road appears to turn into the A591 for a while through Sizergh) after Sizergh head toward a town called Levens Hall (as you go through Levens Hall it gets a little tricky keeping on the A6, but that is all you need to do. Keep on it) after Levens Hall it is easier to see the A6 head toward Haversham, Milnthorpe, Beetham, Hale and Carnforth all on the A6. Now head again on the A6 toward Lancaster, staying on the A6 follow it through toward the South onto Garstang, Barton, and Broughton and finally Preston.

From Preston you are now looking out for the A49, head toward Cuerdon you will go under the M65 motorway then you need to look for the A49, turn right toward Euxton, Standish, Wigan, Warrington, Leominster and Hereford. Continue on the A49 toward Haywood. Now look out for the A466 travelling through Wormelow, St. Weonards, Welsh Newton again keeping on the A466 onto Monmouth, Redbrook, Brockweir, Tintern and Chepstow.

Now you need to get to the Severn road bridge to cross the river and then take the A38 toward Bristol. Now take the A361 toward Taunton and onto Wellington. Look for the A377 towards Tiverton and onto Exeter. From Exeter head toward Moretonhamsted and Postbridge on the B3212 continue to two bridges taking the B3357 toward Merrivale, Moorshop and following signs for the Dartmouth National Park. From Moorshop take the A386 toward Tavistock. From Tavistock take the A390 toward Newbridge, St Ive and then keep on the A390 toward Liskeard. From here still on the A390 (which runs into the A38) head toward Broadoak and Lostwithiel again keep on the A390 through St Austell, Probus then onto St Clement and eventually Truro.

From Truro the A390 runs into the A39 you want to head for the A394 travel through Rame and then keep on the A394. Head to Helston, then Ashton and onto Rosudgeon staying on the A394. Stay on the A394 through Gwallon and follow signs to Penzance once the A394 joins the A30. Remain on the A30 through Buryas bridge, through Crows an Wra and Penzance heading for Lands End.
